Human life has dissimilar stages: the Baby stage, Boy stage, Young adult Stage, Mature adult stage and the Experienced adult stage. Each stage in life has peculiar experience one has to get. In the baby stage (which range from 0-3 yrs), the baby is new to this world and eager to learn how to walk, talk, run, eat, etc. In the boy stage (which range from 4 yrs-20 yrs), the child ought to have gotten the basic attainments of life from the parents. He enters school and starts formal learning. At this stage the child is expected to begin experimenting new ideas he gets. He experiments everything he hears or thinks. The next stage is the Young adult stage (which range from 21yrs-40yrs). It is a very crucial stage. At this stage the adult has gotten numerous level of exposure in life. His thinking faculties are very sharp because he will have to have passed through Primary, Secondary, and in all probability some levels of university or college education. The adult will be expected to master independence, creativity, language attainments and social skills. The next stage is the mature adult stage (which ranges from 41 yrs-60 yrs). This stage is less hectic than the young adult stage. It is a very slow period; because at this stage the adult have garnered a wide experience in all vicissitudes of life. Every step the adult wants to take; he applies a outstanding deal of caution. The next stage (which range from 61 yrs to death) is the experienced adult stage. Other stages in life have respective levels of experience, but at this stage the adult is termed an ‘experienced man’. Those in this stage in life have passed through diverse situations and are now retiring from active service. At this stage in life you have seen it all, you may be best described as a veteran in your chosen field.

Nature allows you to pass through these stages because they are the refining procedure towards the accomplishment of your fate in life. As you pass through stages in life you fabricate good habits: the love for God, setting of goals, patience, perseverance, courage, creativity, discretion, charity, faith, etc. Life allows you to pass through fire so that the dross in your life will be removed.

To exemplify the law of procedure in strength in someone’s life is that of Prof. Dora Akunyili the Minister of Information and Communication. Her success in almost all areas in her life needs examination. She underwent life’s stages by passing through trainings, trials, leadership positions, etc.

She graduated in the first place with bachelors of Pharmacy, from University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1978. She then started her working career as Hospital Pharmacist (1978-1981) in the University of Nsukka Teaching Hospital, Enugu. She later went into the Academics as a Graduate Assistant (Research Fellow) in the faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, U. N. N (1982) as lecturer 1. In amid her careers she got her PhD from the same University in 1985. In 1999 she bagged a Post Doctoral Fellow from University Of London. In 1990 she was appointed a senior lecturer.

She maintained a steady rise in her career benefitting experience. She was later transposed to the College of Medicine (1992) and was later made a advisor Pharmacologist in 1996 (a position she held until 2001). She was likewise appointed a part-time lecturer of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists (1992-1995).

Outside from academic positions she kept positions of responsibility: she served in six senate committees and respective Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Committees of UNN (1986-1992). She also served as a supervisor for Agriculture and Member of the Caretaker Committee for her local Government (1994). She was also a fellow member of the State Hospitals Management Board and State Advisory Council for Women Commission in Anambra state. She was an active fellow member of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (P. S. N) where she was: National Vice President of Association of Lady Pharmacists (1992-1995) and President of the Enugu State Branch (1992-1998).

In amidst her career she was highly involved in writing and publishing. She has staged scientific papers in respective local and International Scientific Conferences, published books and diary articles. She likewise supervised PhD and Masters Candidates in Nnamdi Azikiwe University and University of Nigeria Nsukka.

She moved a step higher, by her appointment as Zonal Secretary of the Petroleum Special Trust Fund (PTF). It was a very daunting assignment that saw her co-coordinating all projects in the five South Eastern States: Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Imo States. She was so hardworking, committed, honorable and transparent in the discharge of her duties. She continued performing her tasks till 1999 when PTF was discontinued.

Her honestness and transparency displayed in PTF coupled with her wealth of experience influenced her been appointed the Director General of NAFDAC in April 2001. Ever since she resumed office, she has been in the forefront of the fight versus the importation of phony and substandard regulated productions in Nigeria. She transformed NAFDAC from a near moribund Agency into a formidable one. Since she assumed office she has destroyed drugs worth billions of Naira. She destroyed the cabal of Fake drug importers. Because she stepped on the toes of drug peddlers and barons of these bogus drugs; she got death threats and assassination attempts.

Her attainments in curtailing these heinous perpetrators have brought her acclaim nationally and internationally. Prof. Dora Akunyili remains the most celebrated and honoured personality in the recent world history. In her kitty now are regarding 350 awards. Internationally recognized organizations/bodies like: Transparency International Berlin-Germany, IAEA-1400 Vienna-Austria, Ecumenical Apostolic Church Diocese, African Society for Toxicological Sciences, Baltimore, The African Times, American Association of Nigerian Pharmacists USA, International Human Rights Services, Time magazine, etc, have given her awards.

Most presently she was appointed as the Minister of data and Communications. She brought in her flare for excellency with the Rebranding Strategy. This project still in it is bedrock has seen her traverse all spheres in the Nigerian polity. As a woman that observed the law of procedure she will unquestionably succeed in her Rebranding project.

The success of Dora didn’t come at a platter of gold, she passed through dissimilar stages in life. She was forty seven years when she was appointed DG of NAFDAC. All through those years before her appointment; she passed through a procedure of training.
